I’m a big believer in journalling as well as therapy. I would love to have the two go hand in hand and get some useful insights into my musings… Feedback, some idea of what’s going on inside my mind from another point of view. Even if that view is a machine.
This could all go very wrong - the AI psychosis thing is a real problem for people who use an LLM for this and tend to believe and hang on every word it says. Since I know of this risk, I am hoping that makes me much less susceptible to it
The goal is to make something that I would find useful, and that could help me to be more aware of myself and to catch and retrain negative thinking. Perhaps to dive deeper into certain key areas that perhaps I am avoiding.
I have luckily opted to keep my journals in Obsidian and my vault inside a git repository on Github. Since the files are just plain text, on my hard drive, it will make it very easy to ingest this information. I’m thinking of something simple for now:
- Console application - perhaps this is a good place to start and I can turn this into a github action executing a script afterward
- Github action
We can then just upload the results to a specific folder of the journals directory.
Types of Feedback
I would like to try this out using many different styles of thinking… Examining it from a few different perspectives. Namely right now :
- Cognitive behavioural therapy
- Internal Family Systems
- Jungian Psychoanalysis
- Alchemical Transformation
Each one seems a little more “out there” than the last, but I’m just curious to see what kind of results I will get and I could potentially turn this into an application later if any of this actually proves useful to me.
